November 18, 2002:  Purchase of Dude Creek West Funded!

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service today announced that it will award an almost $1 Million Coastal Wetlands Conservation Grant for purchase of the 1,072-acre Dude Creek West parcel! The $957,600 government grant will be matched by $319,200 pledged by The Nature Conservancy, Ducks Unlimited, and the Gustavus Land Legacy. See the USFWS Press Release for additional details. The Gustavus Land Legacy held a dinner November 26 to celebrate the great news.

November, 2002: Nature Conservancy Spotlights Gustavus.

In the Winter, 2002 issue of its quarterly membership magazine, The Nature Conservancy featured the Gustavus Forelands as its "hot property." A full page of the glossy magazine presented a photograph of Glacier Bay and made the case for purchasing the mental health trust lands before prices go higher or the current purchase option expires. Members were urged to send donations to the Conservancy's Anchorage office or to call for more information.

June, 2002: GLL Receives $100,000 CIAP Grant.

The Gustavus Land Legacy was one of 56 Alaska projects receiving a total of  $3 Million in federal Coastal Impact Assistance Program grants.

March 8, 2002: Save The Land Jam Benefit in Juneau

November 29, 2001 -- Nature Conservancy and Mental Health Trust sign purchase agreement

October 29, 2001: Purchase agreement signed.

GLL Executive Director Hank Lentfer announced at tonight's meeting that a purchase agreement between The Nature Conservancy and the Trust Land Office has been signed. The agreement is available in the GLL Archives.

May 27, 2001: Comments Sought on Revised Draft Management Agreement.

This document will shape all future use on the lands. It sets the management objectives and describes how conflicts will be resolved. Get in touch with any questions and comments. Feel free to call (697-2221). I will be out of town for much of June so try before then. We hope to have the final agreement signed by mid July.

May 9, 2001: Draft Management Agreement, photos, brochure.

The Gustavus Land Legacy met to discuss a draft Management Agreement between GLL and The Nature Conservancy. See the meeting minutes for details.

Added photos to the web site. They aren't organized yet.

Attempted to scan the new brochure. Will try to get a more satisfactory electronic version on-line soon.

May 7, 2001: Updated Web Site.

Created Your Legacy page with instructions for donating to the Legacy. Posted agenda for May 9 meeting, fixed broken links, deleted content left over from the template used to create the site, re-organized the navigation, and generally cleaned up.
